Gillian van der ven
Gillian has been enjoying horses since she was a child. She currently shows on the hunter circuit and has competed at shows across the prairie provinces, including Rocky Mountain and the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair. Gillian works closely with the Double T Ranch Learn to Ride program and instructs students in Stable Management
Riding most of her life, Rachael's riding has been quite eclectic, trying her hand at anything possible horse related. This experience varied from western pleasure, to jumping, to driving a team, to pack trips in the mountains. One of the highlights of her riding career so far was riding for and being trained by the Riding Master at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Alberta.
Having taught beginners since she herself was only 14 years old Rachael thrives in following this passion! She loves to see others form a partnership with a horse no matter the discipline.
Having ridden and produced young horses with success up to the 1.2 level as well as riding young hunters up to the 3’6 hunters, Sam is the assistant trainer to Don Dorsch, supporting the students to refine the basics & developing their skills to help them achieve their riding goals.
Sam's career includes many years of experience both showing & as a groom at shows & competition. This has given her a solid understanding of how things needs to run the back of the barn to keep things rolling at the shows
Sam has deep knowledge of horse care and supporting the fitness and health of each unique animal. She helps riders in working through questions & concerns regarding their horse to help make sure the stay sound and physically healthy.
Having successfully competed in the international ring at Spruce Meadows, Don has won many Grand Prix's over the years. Also an exceptional hunter rider with many championships from baby green to open hunters.
With over 40 years of riding teaching and selling horses, his quiet and calm way of teaching has helped produce riders at every level up to Grand Prix's with success. There years of experience & catch riding at shows has given Don the amazing skill of being able to read a horse and deal with problem horses.
